Beargrass Writing Retreat gathers some of the West's most celebrated and promising writers at the storied E Bar L ranch for readings, workshops, craft talks, and generative writing opportunities that connect writers of all experience levels with self and place. Surrounded by horses and mountains and the Blackfoot River, participants are treated to great conversations, live music, and delicious home cooked meals.

Beargrass visiting writers and contributors include Geffrey Davis, poet and author of The Night Angler, winner of the James Laughlin Award; Publisher and CEO of Milkweed Editions Daniel Slager; Rob McQuilkin of Massie & McQuilkin Literary Agents; Jules Ohman, novelist and author of, Bad Grammar, published by Vintage Originals in 2022; poet and writer Chris Dombrowski, author of the forthcoming memoir The River You Touch, Milkweed Editions fall of 2022; novelist and Guggenheim Fellow, Debra Magpie Earling, author of Perma Red and The Lost Journals of Sacajewea; poet and scholar, Heather Cahoon, winner of the Potlatch Fund Native Arts Grant and a Montana Arts Council Artist Innovation Award; Naomi Gibbs, Executive Editor at Pantheon Books/Penguin Random House; and award winning poet Holly Wren Spaulding, founder of Poetry Forge, who will be co-directing and hosting this year’s retreat.
These contributors join a growing list of diverse, nationally-recognized past writers.
Your retreat fee covers all room and board and programming from Saturday, September 17, until Tuesday, September 20, 2022.
Horseback riding may be arranged for an additional fee.
