“I had such a flipping good time.”

“I’d come back in a NY-minute!”

“I am so impressed with the directors, the presenters and the participants. What a truly class act!”

“You just can’t beat a set up where an assortment of folks with widely varying interests in and experience with the craft get to talk about writing, the business of publishing, and revel in the beauty of language in a gorgeous outdoor setting.”

“You Montana folks are caring, attentive to details, kind, considerate, real and committed. The writers you brought in were accessible and engaged.”

“It’s hard to know what to compare the experience to -- I’ve never encountered anything like it. Heading into the retreat, I had high expectations, and yet Beargrass exceeded them. In a word: it was wonderful.”

“I also want to tell you how much I appreciated the extra mile you seemed to go with everyone. You helped me to feel so much more comfortable, in many ways, and I am so very appreciative.”

“It’s rare to have experiences that are both humbling and emboldening. That’s what Beargrass has been for me.”

“I loved having the freedom to participate and disappear and much as I wanted. The combination of presentations on craft, writing exercises, and nuts and bolts really worked for me. The ranch is incredible!”

“Stunning place. Kindness seemed to let the ideas flow. The sharing was rich and helpful.”

“Really great caliber of presents, organizers, hosts and discussion. Good variety of topics, great setting.”

“Such a spectacular and intimate setting. I've been to a few writers' conferences, but nothing compares.”

“Profound and powerful experience in one of the most beautiful places on earth. As a rather new, yet serious, creative writer I found this retreat intimate and open and far from intimidating. I learned so much about craft and process, publishing logistics, and artistic collaboration, while listening to established writers read and speak about their work. The writers were also accessible and eager to discuss and answer questions over meals and down time. Nestled in the mountains at a stunning ranch there was plenty of space to think, feel, write, and recreate. The staff was warm and welcoming and food was generous and yummy. Loved the local touch with additional food and drink from Dolce, Bernice's, Montgomery Distillery, and music by Jeffery Foucault. Only regret was not staying for the entire retreat!”
